Groceries to Grow
Groceries To Grow
Program Format:
Groceries to Grow is a program that provides fresh produce and healthy grocery options to low-income families, seniors, disabled or medically needy, veterans, and homeless people in the Metro Atlanta region. The program uses food as a means to build relationships with families and assess their needs for additional support services.
Objectives:
Groceries to Grow is more than just a food program – it’s a lifeline for people in need. Our three key objectives are to provide immediate food assistance, assess each family’s unique needs and connect them with additional support services, and build genuine relationships with those we serve. We believe that by working together, we can create a more compassionate and equitable community where no one goes hungry.
Current Metrics:
Currently, Groceries to Grow is able to service 500 families weekly through 4 pop-up grocery store events each month, and 50+ deliveries to sick and shut-in individuals monthly.
Sponsor:
Groceries to Grow receives support from food partners such as the Atlanta Food Bank, The Book Bank Foundation, Fountain Of Hope, and the Food Pantry Collaborative, which is a coalition of churches that donate.
Service Areas:
The primary service area for Groceries to Grow is Metro Atlanta, which is referral-only. The program also provides services to apartments, non-profits, and senior homes by appointment.
Demographics:
The program serves low-income families, seniors, disabled or medically needy individuals, veterans, and homeless people in the Metro Atlanta region.
